Laura Jurd's Big Friendly Band| Teraphon

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Norman Willmore is no longer able to perform on Saturday 25 November, but we are thrilled Laura Jurd & The Big Friendly Band will perform instead. Playing music from her acclaimed 2022 release 'The Big Friendly Album', Laura will be joined by an exciting group of instrumentalists to bring this colourful new music to life. Reflecting her Scottish Heritage, the music draws on folk traditions filtered through a jazz lens, and the acclaimed trumpeter will be joined by Matt Carmichael (saxophone), Corrie Dick (drums), James McKay (guitar) and Brodie Jarvie (double bass). Big friendly tunes and grooves-a-plenty!

"a big hearted, gorgeously lyrical, feel-good romp, which does not preclude cerebral engagement but which wears its complexities so lightly that one barely notices them." - Chris May, All About Jazz

Opening the evening is a thrilling new collaboration between three outstanding multi-instrumentalists, led by Phil Alexander (Moishe’s Bagel). Teraphon play original compositions and stunning traditional material that brings together middle eastern rhythms, Jewish klezmer melodies, and the soul of jazz - all backed up by irresistible grooves.

If you have purchased tickets, the box office will be in touch. The line-up for Norman Willmore's Aberdeen and Glasgow dates remains the same.

Norman Willmore Sextet are also touring to Glasgow and Aberdeen.
